EYE Film Institute – Installation
By Visualising EYE's Rich Film Archive, The Public Is Interactively Taken On A Tour
In collaboration with EYE Film Institute, Submarine has developed the new interactive Panorama, situated in an impressive new museum building on Amsterdam’s Northern river shore. The Panorama is a room where visitors will be surrounded on all sides by film fragments, and where they can browse through EYE’s collection with the help of seven control panels. There are nearly one hundred regularly changing scenes that can be viewed, and these are grouped around the themes Discovery of the World, Film Stars, Colour, the Netherlands, Slapstick and Battle.
Inspired by the interactive experience in the Panorama, visitors can explore further on their own in specially designed pods – viewing cabins with small sofas and a Cinemascope screen – where they will be able to watch both film fragments and complete films. Well-known Dutch figures such as Georgina Verbaan, Wubbo Ockels and Jeroen Krabbé will make the exploration even easier by virtually guiding visitors through their favorite film fragments. And there’s also a film quiz to play.
