We are very honoured to announce  that ‘The Successor of Kakiemon’ has won the Liliane Stewart Award for Design Arts at the 2013 Festival International du Film sur L’Art in Montreal, Canada! The film by Suzanne Raes was selected amongst 11 others out of 248 films from 28 countries!

The award is created especially for films about design arts such as decorative arts, crafts, graphic designs, landscape and urban design, fashion design and architecture.

Thriller met hoorspelachtig gepiep

Een blonde man met een bloedneus kijkt je somber aan. Er staat een tekst onder zijn portret: “Mijn ergste vijand is mijn eigen geschiedenis. Die moet ik kennen, tot ik alles weet.” Daarbij klinkt dreigende muziek met trommels en strijkers.

Wat dit is? Een nieuwe fase in de digitalisering van de literatuur. Submarine Channel in Amsterdam, gespecialiseerd in het produceren van interactieve media, heeft voor Uitgeverij De Geus een geanimeerde trailer laten maken voor de promotie van ‘De Erfgenaam’, een thriller van Charles den Tex. Dit boek wordt namelijk niet alleen verkocht in een papieren versie, maar ook als e-boek. In totaal worden vier elektronische thrillers van Den Tex aangekondigd met hulp van dit soort trailers, telkens getekend door een jonge Nederlandse stripmaker. Eerder al trapte Jules Calis af met een filmpje voor de bestseller ‘CEL’, nu is tekenaar Jasper Rietman aan de beurt met ‘De Erfgenaam’, in samenwerking met developer Gijs Kattenberg en Charles den Tex zelf – drie keer winnaar van de Gouden Strop – voor het script. De trailer wordt door de kijker/lezer zelf in gang gezet via de zogeheten parallax scrolling techniek:

klinkt ingewikkeld, maar je hoeft alleen maar het neerwaarts wijzende pijltje op je toetsenbord in te drukken en de regie van de uitgekiende animatie doet de rest. Vooral het geluid is mooi: hoorspel-achtig gepiep van een hek, een ontploffing, een steenboor, een hoge hak van een vrouw die een man schopt.

Daar kan geen papieren blurb tegenop!

The Successor of Kakiemon is nominated for the IDFA mid-length documentary award. The documentary from director Suzanne Raes is selected among two other competitors. The winners will be presented on Friday the 23th of November during the closing ceremony.

Meet the Fokkens won the Prix Europa for Best European TV Documentary of the Year 2012 in Berlin.The online interactive motion comic The Art of Pho won the Prix Europa for Best Online Project of the Year 2012!
